Design and construction of a 5.5km 200mm diameter high pressure (HP) steel gas main along Taylors Road and Leakes Road in Rockbank, Victoria.
Works Undertaken
- Manage design of gas main and obtain approvals from regulatory authorities for design alignment and construction,
- Supply and Installation of 5.5km of 200mm diameter HP gas main by open-cut along existing and future Taylors Road at depths of up to 2.5m in rocky ground conditions
- Protection of Growling Grass Frogs in the vicinity of Kororoit Creek during gas main construction by open-cut method
Highlights & Innovations
- Significant Cultural Heritage site (native vegetation, Growling Grass frog habitats) in the vicinity of Kororoit Creek and dry stone walls located in the works corridor
- Comdain collaborated with local council to develop alternative alignment that minimised potential impact on dry stone walls and aid constructability
- Portable welding tents utilised to reduce risk of grassfire and provide additional protection to public in dry paddocks during Fire Danger period
- Project completed with zero LTIs, MTIs and zero environmental incidents
