Electrical Estimator – Victoria or Queensland

On the back of sustained growth, we have a newly created opportunity for an Electrical Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project engineer or electrician to move into an estimating role.

Based in Epping Vic or Banyo Qld, you will take an active role in the tendering of contracts through the analysis of plans, specifications, proposals and other data in preparing time, cost and labour estimates for water and gas capital works electrical projects.

Comdain will support your ongoing professional development in estimating and project management methodology and best practice as well as develop your industry leadership skills. Work with the support of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.

As the successful candidate, you will possess/demonstrate;

  • Bachelor level degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Trade Qualification (preferable);
  • Post graduate studies in Project Management and/or Business Management (advantageous);
  • Under graduate experience in estimating and/or project management (preferable);
  • Prior exposure to the water and/or gas industry (advantageous);
  • Advanced skills in Excel (mandatory);
  • Previous exposure to industry estimating packages (advantageous) and
  • Previous Australian Experience and knowledge of AS3000 (mandatory)

 

Senior Estimator / Bid Lead – Melbourne

On the back of growing opportunities within the Melbourne water and gas utilities sector, Comdain is looking for a Senior Estimator / Bid Lead with a focus of the bidding and tendering of water and gas utility infrastructure projects. Comdain continues to grow its engineering team as it secures and delivers projects across Victoria. We’re looking for ways to add value to our clients and further grow our self-perform capability.

The Senior Estimator / Bid Lead will support ongoing profitable growth by winning new programs and projects and supporting the profitable delivery of projects won. This includes delivering optimal tender proposals, and driving innovation into all technical solutions.  The Senior Estimator will be hands-on in their approach to develop winning bid strategies, bid preparation, bid management, estimating and ongoing design management support through to securing and handing over projects to the delivery team.

You will also collaborate alongside our Project Managers in managing the design process through project delivery.

What we are looking for:
As the successful candidate, you will have 10+ years post-graduate experience as an Engineer and/or Project Manager incl.;

  • 8+ years exp. in the management of projects and/or bids for water and gas infrastructure projects; and
  • 8+ year’s exp. in Design Management;
  • Experience in the bidding water/waste water, sewage and/or gas projects across both networks and facilities infrastructure;
  • Project delivery experience will be favourable;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships with all stakeholders;
  • Ability to lead and manage teams;
  • Self-starter, able to determine own priorities and manage work accordingly;
  • Eager to take on new challenges; and
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

The above experience will complement the following;

  • Bachelor of Civil, Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering;
  • Preference for post graduate studies in Project Management and/or Business Management;
  • Construction industry induction care (i.e. white card)

 

Area Coordinator – Melbourne

On the back of sustained growth, an opportunity for a new Area Coordinator has arisen. They will be responsible for the management, planning and delivering all activities involved in maintenance & construction services and gas supply with a major focus on safety, quality, standards and customer satisfaction.

The principal objectives of this position are to undertake work in the following areas including, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a strong and effective leadership in the development of a competitive culture within the group;
  • Reviewing of daily and weekly productivity QLIK reports. This will ensure the field crews are driven to achieve their targets;
  • Effective cost control in line with effective contractor and resource management;
  • Reviewing and authorise contractor claims/payments;
  • Managing new requests for quotations and gas meter alteration quotations;
  • Assisting field supervisor in emergencies situations including outages and major escapes;
  • Assisting with managing resources to maintain excellent productivity and contractor & client relations;
  • Managing and Coordinate all aspects relating to minor procurement, planning and organising field resources;
  • Completing quality audits to ensure crews are completing works in the field to current APA Group and legislative requirements; and
  • Creating and maintaining a safe working environment, meeting all legislative requirements, and facilitating the use of safe work practices.

What we are looking for:
You will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably within civil construction or utilities. Knowledge of mains and service pipe fittings, equipment, pipe laying, construction and maintenance will be advantageous. Previous experience in management of staff and workforce planning, as well as dealing with contractors will also be advantageous.

 

HSEQ Advisor – Melbourne

An opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor to join our Victorian Land Development team, based in Epping.

This is a unique opportunity where you will gain hands on experience, and supported by a large HSEQ Team, which will set you up for the next step in your career growth.

Reporting directly to the Program Manager – Land Development, supported by the National HSEQ Manager and HSEQ Coordinator – Vic Engineering, you will work closely with project teams to provide coaching, support and advice. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Providing HSEQ leadership to field staff at an operational level;
  • Assist in maintaining system certification (9001, 4801, 18001, 14001);
  • Assisting in development and review of Work Packs (SWMS, ITPs, etc.) to ensure timely and quality completion;
  • Implementing the inspection and quality assurance program;
  • Overseeing the training needs requirements to ensure currency;
  • Participating in incident investigations or emergency management as required;
  • Managing and delivering reporting requirements.

You must have at least 2 years experience in a similar role, preferable in a construction or high risk environment, as well as formal qualifications in Health and Safety, Environment or Quality Management.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with specialist experience within water and gas infrastructure to join our engineering team in Epping, Victoria.

Based within our corporate head office, your role will oversee a diverse range of urban water and gas infrastructure capital work projects. Specifically, you will take strong personal ownership of projects through all stages of the project management life-cycle. This will include successfully bidding and winning projects, while also safely and profitably deliver the closing stages of these assignments.

On the back of sustained growth, we have a newly created opportunity for a Project Engineer with specialist experience within water and gas infrastructure to join our engineering team based in Epping, Victoria.

Based within our corporate head office and operating throughout metro-Melbourne and Victoria, your role will be to manage small projects or subsets of larger projects aligned within urban water and gas infrastructure capital works. Specifically, you will oversee various stages of the project management life-cycle including safely and profitably deliver the closing stages of these projects.

You will also be required to coordinate with relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, for the commitment and allocation of resources (people, plant, equipment, procurement, subcontractors and suppliers) to meet project requirements.

Comdain is ramping up to deliver some exiting new projects. With these come opportunities for Operator/Excavator to join the team based out of Clayton and working throughout Eastern and South Eastern suburb of Melbourne.

These are permanent, full-time opportunities commencing ASAP.

What we are looking for:
As one of the successful candidates, you will be part of a team involved in the safe and effective construction of gas projects.
You will bring with the following;

  • Prior experience in Construction;
  • Construction industry induction card (white card);
  • Victorian Heavy Combination driving license;
  • Operator’s license for Excavator, Front End Loader or Backhoe and proven competency in operating and maintaining an Excavator, Front/End loader or backhoe (preferred) would be an advantage;
  • Previous experience in customer contact would be an advantage.

Labourer/Pipe Layer – Clayton

On the back of sustained growth, an opportunity for new Labourer/Pipe Layers have arised. They will carry out all duties associated with the construction and maintenance of gas mains and services with a major focus on safety, quality, standards and customer satisfaction.

The principal objectives of this position are to undertake work in the following areas:

  • Operate equipment and tools associated with main laying and service laying activities;
  • Ensuring work is completed to Comdain’s requirements as well as legislative requirements;
  • Using good management practices and continuous improvement initiatives to meet or better KPI’s;
  • Assist with tasks directed by the Crew Leader.

This position is ideally suited to someone with experience within the water and / or gas industries. Labouring experience within other construction industries will be considered. Additionally, you will have;

  • Previous knowledge and / or experience in either manual labouring, use of hand tools or mechanical equipment;
  • Victorian Heavy Combination driving license;
