You are a hands-on role model and will lead a crew of 4 – 6 personnel comprising of labourers, machine operators and pipe layers/gas workers. You will be responsible for the construction and inspection of water capital/main and service laying works being carried out by Comdain and its subcontractors, whilst ensuring that this work performed is according to specified health, safety and quality standards.

Storeman – Melbourne

A newly created opportunity has arisen for a Storeman to support Comdain’s operations in the safe, efficient and accurate management of all tools and materials as used in the delivery of Comdain’s projects. This includes;

  • Goods receipting;
  • Managing all movement of stock;
  • Able to perform stock take and report variances;
  • Maintaining accurate records of all stock on hand; and
  • Deliveries to site.

As a secondary responsibility, the Storeman is responsible for the general maintenance of the premises including warehouse, yard and offices.

Project Engineer – Clayton

The Project Engineer is responsible for the coordinating and managing of the safe, timely and quality delivery of Capital Works to budget. More specifically, the incumbent’s duties will include, but not limited to;

  • Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection;
  • Perform technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, procurement and quality control functions for assigned project issues;
  • Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and technical construction specifications;
  • Coordinate the activities of the design and construction teams;
  • Assisting in the tendering process by developing tender lists, evaluating tenders and preparing the recommendations to award contracts;
  • Developing a scope of works for the tender package;
  • Manage subcontractors and subcontract administration; and

The principal objectives of this position are to undertake work in the following areas including, but are not limited to:

  • Providing a strong and effective leadership in the development of a competitive culture within the group;
  • Reviewing of daily and weekly productivity QLIK reports. This will ensure the field crews are driven to achieve their targets;
  • Effective cost control in line with effective contractor and resource management;
  • Reviewing and authorise contractor claims/payments;
  • Managing new requests for quotations and gas meter alteration quotations;
  • Assisting field supervisor in emergencies situations including outages and major escapes;
